We're building our dream cottage this year. We have a lovely waterfront lot on a point of land on a small lake in Southern Ontario.

Ceilings and walls

Well, we started on the cedar plank ceilings this last weekend. Upstairs first because we have to get the ceiling up before the stairs go in. Why, you ask? Because the ceilings are so high, we need the scaffolding and we wouldn't be able to get the scaffolding down once the stairs are in. So, upstairs first, then we can quit climbing a ladder to get upstairs. At the rate we're going, it will take a full month to get the ceilings all up. The planks are only 4 inches wide, so it's taking forever. We got 1/2 of the 2nd floor done over the weekend. It goes slower than we expected, but then I guess everything has.

Drywalling is happening this week. Bill talked to the guy yesterday and the walls are all up, now they're mudding and sanding and such. Can't wait to see it.

We moved mattesses and box springs up to the cottage as well. They're stored in the shed right now, but I want to get them into the cottage itself asap. So...as soon as the drywalling is done, they'll go in. Don't want any critters to get too comfortable.
