We're building our dream cottage this year. We have a lovely waterfront lot on a point of land on a small lake in Southern Ontario.

Some family fun pics

I just have to share them.

I always imagined me painting up here like this. Now its a reality.

Me slacker....

Wow....I haven't updated this 2 years?

....me slacker....

In my defense, we've been enjoying NOT having to work on the cottage SO much that my responsibilities to the blog have suffered. I beg your forgiveness.

As a place for family visits and escapes from the city, its the best. And was well worth the work.

But I still wanna know....

Why after all that work did we NOT end up muscular, toned and totally buff? We were simply tired.

I guess there IS no justice in the world.

Shoal #2

Off the front shoreline is a ledge of rock. A small part of which forms what I call Gull Island. Gull Island is really just a small bit of the rock which juts out of the water, but the gulls congregate there and there is usually plenty of gull guano as a result (which luckily the rain washes away now and then).

Anyway, apparently, this rock formation has been the site of one of the lakes major pickerel spawning beds. Pickerel populations have been overfished in the last few years, so the lake association (MLLA) has decided to beef up the spawning beds. So with permission from the Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR) they've started adding rock to extend the favorable conditions for spawning.

Cool!!

Guests

Friends of ours came up for the weekend. The weather cooperated nicely and we had a good time, just relaxing, reading, wining....(not the whining kind LOL) and yeah....eating. Geez, I wish we'd taken pics.

It was great not having to do any real work, tho Bill did a few smaller things. We brought up 3 8 foot sections of dock framing, so this weekend we'll bring up some cedar decking and try to get the dock closer to finished.
