We're building our dream cottage this year. We have a lovely waterfront lot on a point of land on a small lake in Southern Ontario.

I'm dreaming of a bathroom

Well, I'm done putting together those Muskoka chairs and they sure do look nice. One last coat to put on and they'll be ready for a deck.

Bill in the meantime has been planning out the plumbing. Figuring out how to put the vent stack in has been the problem. Where we wanted to put it, just happened to have a window above it on the 2nd floor, so we had to rethink and rearrange. I think we're pretty close to starting the actual work now.

We've bought all of the BR fixturs (except shower, we need a truck for that). So far they're just sitting in their spots, helping us visualize how things will get laid out. Sure will look good when there are real pipes all hooked up!! Of course walls would help too.

The deck that isn't (yet)

It's so nice to be able to begin work on the cottage again. The plan for this year includes:
  • deck and porches
  • siding
  • plumbing &
  • electrical
More than anything, I can't wait to be able to sit on the deck holding a cool one. Electrical be damned, I want that deck. Since our constuction dude can't start work on the deck until late June or so, and the siding after that, we concentrate our efforts on the inside and other things. Bill has been studying the electrical and plumbing code for weeks. I on the other hand have been investigating solar power systems. Not sure if we'll go there, but it is an option.

This week, we chose some samples of tile to take up and have since decided on which ones we like. Sunday Bill started on the subflooring for the tile in the bathroom and kitchen, while I started to paint the 4 muskoka chairs that we picked up at Costco.

When we were shopping for paint, I had insisted on 4 different colors for them. Primary red, yellow & blue, and John Deere green. So right now the big room in the cottage is covered with various colors of muskoka chair pieces in various stages of painting laid neatly in their sections.
Next week I'll paint some more and maybe even be able to put them together before putting on the 2nd coat. Then, once they're done, I'll get a picture of the 4 beautiful chairs for the deck that isn't (yet).

Maybe I'll even be able to get a pic of the tile floors that aren't yet too.
